Localization Challenge

You are here

The Localization Challenge 2016 will be open until September 15, 2016.

Show off your Smartphone App or algorithm for navigating indoors without GPS!
There are many situations in which navigating using a smartphone or other small-scale sensor platform without GPS would be very useful.  Such environments include complex buildings and even some outdoor locations in urban environments.  We have devised a challenge to test the accuracy of inertial navigation algorithms for applications on mobile devices in a variety of situations, using accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer sensor data.  We have collected the data, and it is available at https://github.com/IndoorLocalization/datasets along with instructions for the Challenge.  If you have an indoor navigation app or algorithm, please try our data and test your accuracy! The winners of the Challenge will get a free Android device.  The challenge is open from now until Sept 15.  The winners will be announced in early October.

We provide the data in XML, json and csv file formats.  It was collected from participants at SAS 2016. Sign up for https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/indoor_localization to join the discussion.

Entries will be judged by: Justin Cappos, Richard Weiss, Seth Miller, Yanyan Zhuang, and Albert Rafetseder
